

Tampa, FL – Some of the local Young AFEAN Members of the Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association (AFCEA) took a tour of the Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) production facility, headquartered at MCS of Tampa. MCS of Tampa has partnered with ITT Corporation’s Advanced Engineering and Sciences Division to manufacture the new cutting-edge, high-tech equipment that will be installed in various locations throughout the U.S.

The tour consisted of explaining the ADS-B program,which is an FAA approved program to install a GPS tracking system for commercial aircraft to provide adequate data of surrounding air space. MCS is a corporate sponsor of the Tampa-St. Petersburg AFCEA Chapter, an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security. The Young AFCEAN group is an opportunity for chapter members 40 years of age or younger to meet and discuss technologies and their implications and use in society.
